Artist A Boogie shot dead

Artist Julius Dubose, better known by his stage name A Boogie wit da Hoodie, died early Saturday morning, after he was shot multiple times near Wayne Drive.

J. Dubose , 22, was shot while sitting in a car at Yo Way Audio September 9 at about 2 a.m., McKneely said. He added that police do not have a suspect or motive in his killing.

Dubose’s manager, Kevin Webb called the rapper one of the label’s top talents and said he was told Dubose was getting his car cleaned when he was shot.

“He was a real passionate person,” Webb said. “He was a fun-loving, people person. Everybody loved him. Everybody from the elderly to the young people could relate to him.”

The label was planning a tour for all of the rappers, including Dubose, associated with the label. Dubose had released a new video a week before the shooting.

The rapper also helped with the group’s Easter egg bash this year where the label gave away 100 bicycles and organized an egg hunt for children in Port Allen.

On the day of the shooting, investigators worked the scene into the early evening and a white car that appeared to be Dubose was towed away.

Just outside of the crime scene tape, about a dozen people waited for their orders from a sno-ball shop. One of the shop’s employees, who declined to give her name, said she heard about eight gunshots.

“We just heard beaucoup shots. It was crazy,” she said.
